AcademiaBusiness Development Manager Languages Americas with extensive experience in developing a strong pipeline and delivering new business in their territory.

Job purpose

Academia Business Development Manager Americas will lead our academic channel growth across the Americas region. Academia Business Development Manager Americas will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to expand partnerships, drive sales, and position PeopleCert as a leading provider of credentialing solutions in the academic market.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the academic channel

  • Develop a regional strategy and sales plan to grow PeopleCert’s Accredited Academic Partner Program within universities.
  • Craft a B2C sales model to directly reach students and educators.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create targeted campaigns for higher education.

Drive academic channel growth

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of potential partners and sales opportunities.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with academic institutions for ongoing sales, upselling, and co-marketing initiatives.
  • Identify pain points within the education sector and translate them into actionable insights for internal teams.

Expand partnerships and revenue

  • Work with regional business development and recognition teams to identify cross-selling and collaboration opportunities.
  • Track industry trends, policy developments, and legislative changes to identify growth opportunities.

Position PeopleCert as a thought leader

  • Manage and support RFQ/RFP responses, positioning PeopleCert for success in academic tenders.
  • Participate in relevant industry forums and conferences, potentially including speaking engagements.
  • Contribute thought leadership content to the PeopleCert business plan for Business & IT solutions.

Collaboration and execution

  • Partner with internal teams to create effective marketing and sales materials for the Americas market.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on developing customized country strategies and engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the PeopleCert CRM for leads, opportunities, and contacts.
  • Take on additional responsibilities aligned with the role and company goals.

What we look for:

  • Location: Location: ideally based in North America / Mexico / Canada, ready to travel upon requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or sales in education sector is a must.
  • Proven track record of building and managing strong relationships with external customers, particularly within the higher education sector in the APAC region is a must.
  • Experience negotiating and establishing collaborations with academic institutions, including curriculum development is a must.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets within set timeframes.
  • Proven ability to develop and present compelling business cases, proposals, and tenders.
  • Experience working with university decision-makers (eg Provost, Deans, Program Leaders).
  • LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus.
  • Spanish speaking desirable.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check.

If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
