Your Impact
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Substation Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems within substations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining high-voltage equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relay systems. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical theory, substation components, and industry safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair substation electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
- Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on substation components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Operate test equipment such as multimeters, power analyzers, and relay test sets.
- Conduct high-voltage switching and grounding procedures in compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure all work follows industry standards, including NESC, NEC, OSHA, and company safety policies.
- Assist in the commissioning of new substations and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing, and repairs.
- Work with engineers, technicians, and project managers to support substation operations.
- Respond to emergency outages and participate in on-call duties as needed.

Core Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience in electrical power systems.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in substation maintenance and electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, substation operations, and protective relays.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with high-voltage switching procedures and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of NERC, FERC, OSHA, NEC, and other industry standards.
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical/Work Environment
At Pearce safety is our number one concern. Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA Standards.
- Must live within approximately 50 miles of the Los Angeles, California area.
- Must be willing to travel to various substation locations.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and at heights.
- On-call availability for emergency maintenance and outages.
- May require lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Travel requirements dependent on support of the company (up to 50% travel to service larger area).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in high-voltage electrical work or substation maintenance.
- Experience with SCADA systems and relay programming.
- CDL license for operating heavy equipment.
