About The Role:
As an AI Annotation Lead, you will guide the strategy and execution of annotated and synthetic datasets used to train
intelligent, agentic systems. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to understand
emerging data needs and ensure high-quality annotations that align with evolving requirements. This role is both
strategic and hands-on—ideal for a self-starter who leads by example, and helps solve complex challenges around
generating the most useful, ethical, and risk-aware data for next-generation AI.
What You'll Get To Do: ● Drive program-level annotation goals across multiple projects and domains, ensuring alignment with
strategic objectives and evolving needs.
● Develop best practices for annotation; mentor team members to ensure high-quality, consistent results.
● Translate evolving product and engineering needs into clear, executable annotation tasks aligned with
human-centered AI principles.
● Define project scope, establish quality standards, oversee review frameworks, and manage timelines to
maintain consistent, high-quality annotations.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve annotation tools, workflows, and operational efficiency.
● Guide data strategies and provide insights that inform product decisions, including the use of synthetic data,
to address gaps and support Responsible AI practices.
● Perform hands-on annotation for complex or sensitive tasks when needed, ensuring milestones and quality
standards are consistently met.
● Surface patterns found, identify emerging data needs, and advise on data priorities and product decisions.
● Design and implement end-to-end annotation processes supporting long-term sustainability, data reusability,
scalability, and ethical AI development.
What You’ll Bring:
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in data annotation or operations, with a focus on leadership
responsibilities.
● Linguistics background, specializing in language patterns and conversational dynamics for model training.
● Deep knowledge of annotation strategies, taxonomy best practices, and quality control methods.
● Proficiency in authoring documentation, creating task guidelines, and synthesizing insights for strategic
decision-making.
● Demonstrated success in aligning data initiatives with product and engineering goals.
● Excellent communication skills, with experience guiding diverse teams through edge cases and evolving
task instructions.
● Familiarity with agentic systems, LLMs, or ML model training pipelines.
● Clear understanding of how high-quality data supports Responsible AI outcomes and enhances user
experiences.
● Ability to apply critical thinking to ambiguous or complex scenarios while following structured guidelines.
● Detail-oriented, committed to precision, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
● Hands-on experience with annotation tools (e.g., LabelStudio, Sheets), project management platforms (e.g.,
Jira), and basic scripting languages (e.g., Python, R).● Collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a track record of bringing people together to meet shared
goals.

Grade level and salary ranges are determined primarily through the scope and complexity of the role along with a
review of the applicant’s experience and skills, as well as alignment with geographic market data and equity with
other team members.
