Packt is seeking a Sales Executive to expand its academic content sales in India. The role involves building relationships with universities and academic institutions, identifying new opportunities, and closing deals. The ideal candidate has experience in academic or STM publishing sales, understands the academic sales cycle, and enjoys engaging with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Graduate in Science or Computer Science preferred
- Strong rapport with institutional stakeholders like librarians, faculty, and department heads
- Should have experience working with technical institutions (IITs, NITs, central/state universities) for selling STM and academic content
- Should have a thorough understanding of the academic sales process, including library procurement, licensing models, and tender-based selling
- Should be well-versed with academic stakeholder engagement — including librarians, faculty members, deans, and procurement officers
- Should be able to effectively present and demonstrate Packt academic products to academic committees and decision-makers
- Should have hands-on experience with CRM tools, academic databases, and digital platforms for lead generation, tracking, and reporting
- Willingness to travel extensively for meetings and events
- Self-driven, with strong relationship-building skills and an enterprising mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presentations
- Results-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a performance-driven culture
