OpenTeams is looking for an emerging leader to work directly with our board and its Chairman, Travis Oliphant, to build and lead an innovative Enterprise first of its kind company that is bridging the gap between the enterprise and open-source communities. OpenTeams builds trusted connections between account executives and open source architects and trusted open- source aligned products in order to deliver unparalleled open-source support and success to our
customers. We are searching for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who has strong established a strong track record in the Open Source community and possesses the leadership skills and the ability to approach business with a creative point of view.

The CEO will lead our team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective. The ideal candidate has extensive experience within one or more of enterprise sales, program management, marketing, or customer success, with awareness of and interest deep experience in the open source communities we serve and solutions they provide. This can be a first-time CEO or first-time executive role for the qualified candidate who has at least 5 years of real-world business experience, preferably having already worked their way up into leadership roles with an Open Source product company or solutions practice. We believe this trajectory helps a person develop a unique mix of existing relationships, business and management expertise, plus proficiency with the practices, policies, and procedures of our industry.

Objectives of this role

  • Build and grow a first of its kind ‘trusted collaboration network’ of Open Source professionals, Open Source product companies, and Open Source solution practices.
  • Make Open Teams the destination for challenging and rewarding solution delivery opportunities and business growth.
  • Build and grow the Open Teams Brand with enterprise customers to be the ‘Most trusted source of Open Source solutions’ designed with Enterprise success criteria in mind.
  • Build and operate this ‘trusted collaboration network’ with the necessary systems and nprocesses required to increase the ease of establishing and growing successful business outcomes for both the consumer and the deliverer of Open Source offerings.
  • Collaborate with board and senior leadership in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and budgets.
  • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
  • Helping to fund-raise and secure a Series A for the company within 18 months.
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met.
  • Support sales and project success initiatives to drive a growth strategy for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement
  • Implement business strategies, plans, measurements, and accountability process that align with the short- and long-term objectives established by the board of directors.
  • Partner with the board and senior leadership to support Partnering, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, and Customer Success teams Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure that the company
    achieves investor targets for growth and profitability
  • Monitor performance with tracking software and take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and
    stakeholders

Specific skills and qualifications

  • Proven history of success in the Open Source community, as evidenced by the depth of relationships with specific Open Source projects, personal relationships within the Open Source community, and project success with commercial or public sector enterprise customers.
  • Current Leaders or Direct report to a leader that are operating Open Source product companies or services practices.
  • Experience working directly for a Founder.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the leadership/work style required in a ‘pre A round’
    company.

General leadership skills and qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in leadership roles (preferably at the executive level).
  • Excellent leadership skills, with strong organization, customer service, and high emotional intelligence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the humility to create a culture of dialogue and accountability.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to navigate change
  • Previous project or program management experience at a senior or management level
  • Understanding of business planning and regulatory issues
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues
  • Hands on approach to management
