Are you an experienced Linux DevOps Engineer who enjoys hands-on implementations of Linux, building infrastructure as code, with strong automation capabilities?

To enable our design engineers to develop Integrated Circuits and products, NXP has created a high end large-scale hardware design environment. This design environment consists of 10,000 plus servers located in multiple data centers across the globe and is supported by a global R&D IT team, of which our Linux VDI team is part of.

In this role you will join the Linux Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) team (5ftes), which provides remote access to NXP central datacenters and enable the engineers to run the interactive Electronic Design Application on the virtual Linux Workstations. You will work with a multi-national dynamic team with a passion for implementing new technologies impacting thousands of systems around the world.

You will be working on improving and maintaining our automated workflows, developing new solutions to improve our VDI solution, analyzing and solving issues in the Operating System environment (RedHat 7 & 8) and also our Virtualization layer (VMware or cloud).

Your responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements to our VDI solution.

  • Work on new developments in the VDI / Cloud environment / VMWare, or new VDI / vCenter / VMWare / Cloud implementations.

  • Improve and maintain our automated workflows, develop new solutions to improve our VDI solution, analyze and solve issues in the Operating System environment (RedHat 7 & 8 ) and also our Virtualization layer (VMware and/or Cloud).

  • Support the VDI solution and the design engineers by solving incidents and problems.

  • Conduct root cause analyses on problems in close collaboration with other teams, design engineers or the vendor.

Your profile

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information technology or similar.

  • Approximately 7+ year experience in managing an IT infrastructures: Linux system administration.

  • Hands-on experience / affinity with Linux (RedHat 7 & 8), VMWare, AWS and storage.

  • Software skills and knowledge of scripting languages like python, bash, ansible, salt.

  • Experience in setting up automated deployment of virtual machines (VMWare, AWS) using tools or scripting languages like python, ansible, PowerShell. (experience in coding C++ and/or automated testing is a plus) in a DevOps/GitOps way of working.

  • Knowledge of AWS, management of VMs, Network and other Cloud service.

  • Knowledge on VMWare vSphere 8 / ESXi in previous functions, in which you have been building / maintaining large-scale and complex environments.

  • You are someone who has a strong motivation to apply and promote End-to-End thinking and is able to understand the Designer's world/needs and translate their requirements to input for VDI Architecture/Design.

  • You enjoy working together with team members and people from diverse cultures all over the world, communicating fluently in English.

Your Team

The Linux VDI team is working in the DevOps approach, using GitLab to manage their CI/CD process. You will be working in/extending automated workflows (GitOps).Though you will be located at our Head Quarters in Eindhoven, you are part of a multi-regional VDI team working across three locations Eindhoven, Bangalore and Guadalajara.

Contract: This is a full-time position with a permanent contract. However, we are open to discuss a part-time opportunity (between 32 and 38 hours) as well.
