Job Description
The Resource Coordinator, HB Codingreflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Resource Coordinator, HB Coding reports to the division manager and is responsible for assisting with the daily operational functions of the coding divisions under the guidance of the Operations Coordinator. This position monitors timely coding of accounts in work queues, and supports the Operations Coordinator with department (including vendors) expectations and compliance guidelines with departmental and organizational policies and procedures
Responsibilities:
- Responds to NMHC physicians, clinicians, support staff, regarding issues and concerns relating to the use of systems and coding results as designated by the Operations Coordinator or Manager
- Is a resource to IP/OP/Charge Posting/Edit coders
- Provides system support to ancillary systems under the guidance of the Operations Coordinator or Manager
- Possesses expertise in all aspects of coding, charging and edit resolution and HB billing/revenue cycle functions
- Assists with monitoring account, charge review, claim edit WQs linked to coding through the continual monitoring of WQ rules and opportunities identified by the coding teams and ancillary departments
- Triage and escalation of coding and compliance issues to Operations Coordinator
- Assists with employee engagement and educational needs as directed by Operations Coordinator
- Assists with training requirements for system upgrades or new applications to staff as needed under the guidance of the Educator, Operations Coordinator or Manager
- Attends clinical meetings when directed by Manager.
- Manages incoming emails from internal NM departments
- Assists the Operational Coordinator in analyzing and summarizing denial reports
- Maintains the Operational Performance and System Coding team site
- Assists the Operational Coordinator with creating and monitoring of the onboarding process, performance measurements, protocols and compliance education for the vendors utilized for coding.
- Participates in monthly vendor meetings (or as designated) to ensure optimal performance.
- Participation in IP/OP/Charge Posting and Edit department meetings as required.
- Performs DRG Anomaly reviews as requested.
- Collaborates with the Epic team to ensure efficient workflows.
- Participates in other organizational meetings as required.
- Other analysis/reporting as required.
Qualifications
Required:
- RHIT or RHIA or CCS
- 4 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare setting
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 5 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare setting
