The Norfolk Fostering Duty and Supporting Resilience Team has a vacancy for a Supporting Resilience Practitioner. We are a close, and supportive team that started in April 2022. The Supporting Resilience Practitioner role will allow you the opportunity to work directly supporting connected carers, Foster Carers, their birth children and Looked After Children placed within the carer’s homes.

In this role you will focus on supporting connected and approved Foster Carers who care for looked after children as well as supporting carers to manage behaviours in a positive way. You will be working closely with the children services and fostering teams to ensure that carers are supported to build and grow resilience from a relationship focused intervention.

We cover the whole area of Norfolk, so you will need to be able to drive and feel confident to work across the county and on the surrounding borders. This is a creative thinking post which allows you the opportunity to work independently as well as part of the team of Enhanced Practitioners, Supporting Resilience Practitioners and Occupational Therapist Assistant Practitioner.

You are line managed by a fostering team manager who has years of experience and understanding the needs and services of the role. In addition, you will have access to clinical supervision with a clinician and psychologist. We will support you to promote your role to the wider Norfolk Fostering service, grow your knowledge and skills to support the service. If you need additional training in an area new to you, we will support this development and then your sharing of this to develop the understanding for the team.

You will have experience of working with children and families directly, experience working remotely, and be prepared to support carers groups, children, and young people’s activities. We work a hybrid approach of virtual and direct contact based at home and county hall in Norwich.

The role can be challenging, but we offer a flexible working pattern to meet the needs of the service and your own wellbeing. You will need to be able to work on a Thursday as it is the core team day each week.

Do you understand children with presenting behaviours and trauma, understanding of the impact of neglect and abuse, experience of supporting children and families where they may be a communication need or processing of information? Could you assist others with finding coping and supportive strategies to boost their own resilience and those they care for?

If you think this could be you, we will welcome your application.
