Role Overview:

The Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring Nordic’s IT infrastructure operates smoothly by designing, implementing, and maintaining systems, services, and network components. This role involves addressing technical challenges, optimizing performance, and contributing to the overall stability of the organization’s technology environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and deploy server hardware, operating systems, and software applications.

  • Install and maintain server operating systems, including performance tuning and security configuration.

  • Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization.

  • Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections.

  • Implement security measures and access controls to safeguard server and network resources.

  • Perform regular system backups, implement disaster recovery plans, and ensure data integrity.

  • Collaborate with development, operations, and other teams to support applications and services.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to systems, servers, and network infrastructure.

  • Keep systems and software up to date with patches, updates, and security enhancements.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 10+ years of experience in server administration for both Windows and Linux environments.

  • 8+ years of proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar technical role.

  • 5+ years’ experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, AVD) and cloud platforms.

  • Strong understanding of server hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.

  • Knowledge of networking protocols, routing, and switching.

  • Familiarity with security best practices and access control mechanisms.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certification such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CompTIA Server+, CCNA, etc.

  • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.

  • Previous experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
