About NextStep
NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join their team.
About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing proptech startup headquartered in London, operating a marketplace that connects landlords and property managers with vetted trade professionals for maintenance and refurbishment work. Seed-to-Series A backed with strong unit economics, they are scaling their marketplace operations across 12 UK cities and preparing for a major funding round. The founding team comes from Rightmove, Deliveroo, and Bain.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the marketplace, ensuring supply and demand are balanced, quality standards are maintained, and operational processes run efficiently as the business scales. You will work directly with the co-founders and have broad ownership across supply management, customer operations, and process improvement.
What You'll Do
Manage and optimise marketplace supply, including onboarding new trade professionals and maintaining quality standards across the network.
Own operational KPIs, including job completion rates, response times, and customer satisfaction scores.
Build and improve processes for job dispatch, quality control, disputes, and customer support.
Work with the product team to translate operational pain points into system and tooling improvements.
Identify and implement efficiencies that allow the business to scale without proportional headcount growth.
What We're Looking For
3–5 years of experience in operations, marketplace management, or consulting, with direct ownership of operational delivery.
Strong analytical skills, comfortable with dashboards, data, and using metrics to drive decisions.
A builder by nature, happy to create processes from scratch and improve them iteratively.
Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.
Experience in marketplace, on-demand, or platform businesses is an advantage.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary of £55,000 – £70,000, depending on experience.
Annual performance bonus.
Meaningful equity stake in an early-stage, high-growth business.
25 days holiday and hybrid working from the London office.
