Senior Program Manager – Cloud Cost Optimization & FinOps
Location: 100% Remote, Canada
Experience: 10+ Years
Rate: $72 to $75 CAD PH
Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior Program Manager to lead cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives across large-scale cloud environments. This role will drive measurable cost savings while improving governance, transparency, and financial accountability across engineering and infrastructure teams. The position partners closely with senior technical and finance stakeholders to operationalize cost optimization at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end FinOps programs, including intake, prioritization, execution, tracking, and executive-level reporting
- Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
- Identify and execute savings opportunities such as rightsizing, idle resource cleanup, reserved instances and savings plans, storage tiering, lifecycle management, and egress optimization
- Establish and manage an operating cadence, including weekly cost reviews, savings backlog tracking, and variance and anomaly analysis
- Improve cost visibility and accountability through tagging standards, showback, and chargeback readiness, and executive dashboards
- Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and finance leaders to align cost optimization with platform and business goals
- Develop repeatable playbooks, guardrails, and governance models to sustain cost improvements beyond the engagement
Must-Have Skills
- 10+ years of program or project management experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure environments
- Proven success driving cloud cost reduction initiatives in AWS and Azure environments
- Strong understanding of cloud billing models, pricing structures, and cost drivers
- Expertise in leading cross-functional programs with senior engineering and finance stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and executive updates
Nice-to-Have Skills
- FinOps certification
- Experience working in containerized or Kubernetes-based environments
- Hands-on exposure to BI and dashboarding tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker
