Mutual of Omaha's Polaris Team is looking for an individual wanting to lead the way for API solutions that inspire innovation and consistency for our organization. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary(Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
    • Engineer II: $115,000 - $130,000 plus annual bonus opportunity
    • Engineer III: $130,000- $145,000 plus annual bonus opportunity
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Bring ideas to life. Work alongside analysts and fellow engineers to turn strategy into actionable Process API solutions that provide reliable and scalable items that align with our company’s goals
  • Smooth the customer journey. Leverage journey feedback, operational data, and technical solutions to reduce friction and boost reliability across interaction
  • Operate on the cutting edge.applying modern libraries and patterns to build stable APIs that deliver core business capabilities.
  • Advance Policy Capabilities.Enable partner teams to move faster by coordinating across systems, products, and teams to address business capability gaps.
  • Collaborate and innovate. Partner across teams to unblock work, share knowledge, and continuously improve how we build and operate our systems.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting modern Process API solutions for teams to connect to for various capabilities.
  • Proactive – Sees emerging needs, identifies high‑value work, and acts without waiting for direction
  • Strong communicator – Able to facilitate discussions, communicate effectively with diverse audiences, navigate ambiguity, and a clear Process API vision
  • Familiarity with SAFe, Agile delivery, and cross-team collaboration.
  • A mindset for problem-solving, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Curiosity, inclusivity, and a willingness to challenge assumptions to make things better.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  • This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.

PREFERRED:

  • Hands-on experience with Java-based API development, including frameworks such as Spring Boot for building scalable, production-ready services
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (RAML, API Manager, integrations, and policy enforcement)
  • Familiarity with Karate DSL (or similar tools) for API test automation and behavior-driven development Working knowledge of API lifecycle management, including versioning, governance, documentation, and monitoring
  • Experience with RESTful API design best practices, including security (OAuth2, JWT), performance optimization, and resiliency patterns
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerization technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and designing APIs within complex, distributed systems
