Intertidal Agency is seeking a part-time program coordinator for our Data Stewardship training program.
Intertidal Agency promotes active, collaborative ocean data stewardship. In addition to our capacity building work with partners, we recently piloted a broader data stewardship training program. In 2026, we plan to launch an initial data stewardship training cohort, focused on early career ocean professionals. We are seeking a collaborative and well-organized Program Coordinator with a mix of people and technical skills who can help make this first cohort a success. The Coordinator will report to our Director of Data Science.
All team members work from home offices. Occasional travel (1-2 trips) may be required for in-person training events.

About the organization

Intertidal Agency’s mission is to unlock ocean data for global good. We work with governments, communities, scientists, nonprofits, and businesses to improve ocean data stewardship and governance, helping make data more useful, usable, and used. We believe people are at the heart of data sharing and we build technical, policy, and process capacity with our project partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the training cohort recruitment process
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for trainees, including handling administrative issues as well as proactively engaging with the cohort to build trust and understand community needs.
  • Create materials and processes to support the group, and help assemble curriculum modules from the training content
  • Document the training process to improve future programs
  • Arrange guest lecturers for trainings
  • Design, facilitate, and document project planning meetings
  • Coordinate logistics for virtual and any in person events (e.g finding meeting spaces and hotels, helping process reimbursements)
  • Track, document and communicate the impact of the cohorts (develop quantifying metrics and document stories)
  • Attend related trainings to keep skills up and share materials and approaches
Depending on the coordinator’s interests and abilities, they may also co-facilitate and co-teach training sessions with Intertidal’s Directors.

Qualities & Abilities

  • A growth mindset to learn and to support others’ learning.
  • Strong project management, including time management, work organization skills, and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with online file sharing, presentation, and meeting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Comfortable working on synchronous online video calls and with asynchronous collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English.
  • No specific degree is required, but a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent level of coursework, training, or on-the-job experience is preferred.
Our ideal candidate has a track record of successful project management and collaboration with diverse groups of people, including individuals and teams with different skill sets. They are familiar with ocean issues and have some experience with open science and data management. They are a curious, continuous learner who seeks to improve their own skills and knowledge of the field, and to pass that knowledge on to others in an empathetic, learner-centered way.
