He envisioned bringing the same digital transformation to the property market, a sector steeped in conventional, often cumbersome, practices. This vision, shared with co-founder Arne Schubert, was the seed from which moovin would grow, aiming to make the rental process as seamless and on-demand as hailing a cab.

The true catalyst for moovin's launch arrived in 2015 with a pivotal change in German legislation known as the 'Bestellerprinzip'. This new law dictated that the party who commissions a real estate agent is responsible for their fee, which is typically the landlord. Suddenly, property owners were faced with a choice: absorb high brokerage costs or navigate the time-consuming complexities of renting out properties themselves. This legislative shift created the perfect market opening for a digital-first, cost-effective solution. Seizing the opportunity, Fabian Mellin officially founded moovin Immobilien GmbH in March 2015. What started as a platform to empower private landlords has since evolved into a comprehensive, B2B-focused PropTech powerhouse. Today, moovin stands as a hybrid brokerage firm, masterfully blending its proprietary software and automated workflows with a network of on-the-ground housing consultants across Germany.
