The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will own and evolve MineHub’s data platform. Your primary mission is to build reliable, scalable data foundations that power analytics, reporting, and future data-driven products, while setting a high technical bar for data engineering across the team.

This is a senior individual contributor role with significant influence: you will define standards, guide architectural decisions, and act as a reference point for data engineering best practices as we modernise our stack.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and evolve data platforms that ingest, transform, and serve supply chain and shipment tracking data at scale.
• Define and maintain data architectures, data models, and transformation patterns aligned with product and analytics needs.
• Establish and enforce best practices for data pipelines, testing, observability, documentation, and change management.
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from diverse internal and external sources.
• Manage and optimise PostgreSQL (AWS Aurora) and related data stores for performance and availability.
• Partner closely with Product, Analytics, and Engineering teams to deliver well-designed data solutions.
• Enable analytics and future AI/ML initiatives through high-quality, well-governed data foundations.

• Current: Python, Django, Dagster, PostgreSQL (AWS Aurora)
• Evolving towards: Modular, service-oriented data pipelines, TypeScript-based services, modern data integration tools.
• Tooling will evolve; your judgment and architectural thinking matter more than experience with any single technology.

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience in production environments.
• Proven experience designing scalable data architectures and data models.
• Strong experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar).
• Demonstrated ownership of data quality, monitoring, and governance.
• Remote work based in Portugal, with the ability to attend in-person team meet-ups.
