Position: Patient Service Representative
Location: This is a remote position. However, remote work is a privilege, not an entitlement. Adherence to productivity and professionalism is required to maintain eligibility.
Schedule: M-F: 9am - 5:30pm MDT; 10am - 6:30pm CDT
Candidates must reside in one of the following states: AR, AZ, CO, IA, IL, IN, MN, MO, MS, ND, SD, and TX
Position Overview:
The Insurance Authorization and Scheduling Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring patients have the necessary insurance coverage for the services provided. This position involves close interaction with patients and insurance companies to facilitate a seamless patient experience. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key responsibilities include managing insurance verifications, maintaining accurate records, and scheduling procedures while ensuring timely and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling:
- Answer incoming calls and assist with patient intake and scheduling.
- Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Provide clear communication to patients regarding appointments and any requirements.
- Work closely with referral sources to obtain additional information or update them on scheduling statuses.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns related to accounts or scheduling.
Additional Expectations:
- Maintain a high level of detail and organization in all tasks.
- Adhere to a 90-day probation period with no missed days, tardiness, or early departures.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in insurance pre/prior authorization (minimum 1 year).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance portals.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Must have an appropriate home office setup with reliable internet.
- Excellent attendance record in previous roles.
