ManTech seeks a Senior Auto Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafter, to support our operations in Chesapeake, VA. This is a remote position.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing design and drafting support to complete large complex assembly models and drawings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide drafting support to complete large complex parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings. Often independently pursued efforts will be focused toward GFE and custom metalwork/fabrication integration for military C4I systems

  • Drafting and documentation of equipment racks, equipment mounting kits, and equipment subassemblies

  • Lead quality control activities by working with project engineers and technicians to ensure all data is properly documented that is required to build the various assemblies and parts

  • Efficiently, thoroughly, and independently solicit data required to create detailed drawings/designs using AutoCAD software

  • Be proficient in creating drawings based on the Engineering Drawing Standards Guide (EDSG) as well as MIL-STD-31000

  • Largely independently perform a variety of moderately complex tasks and uses tools to include calipers, gage tools, tape measures and other mechanical devices to aid in design, development, verification, and validation of the prototype fabrications

  • An integral part of the team creating/updating Technical Drawing Packages; being familiar with ASME standards, Technical Data Packages, and military drawing standards desired

  • Work in concert with a drafting team lead, project engineers, and client principals to work, often independently, toward customer expectations

  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment and able to take direction and constructive criticism

  • Perform independent travel approximately 20% to include CONUS/OCONUS locations (ex. Spain, Guam, Hawaii, Japan) as well as locally, to the customer's facility to work with the engineers and technicians to develop prototype mounting solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and ten (10) years related experience or Associates degree in related discipline and eight (8) years related experience

  • Experience designing with AutoCAD software

  • Experience developing drawing packages utilizing AutoCAD software

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive relevant knowledge of MIL-STD-31000, Department of Defense (DoD) and industry documentation standards for Engineering and Design

  • Experience with other drawing tools such as SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software a plus

  • Demonstrated keen and relevant knowledge of technical drawing creation and review

  • Strong technical, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills

Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required and active Secret Security clearance required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer


The projected compensation range for this position is $61,200.00-$101,700.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
