About the role

We are seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy and enabling data excellence across the business. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that comes with strategic ownership and light people management responsibilities. You will serve as the architect and advocate for analytics engineering—while also being responsible for hands-on delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, is passionate about operationalizing data for scale, and embraces AI-driven solutions to improve both technical workflows and data accessibility for business stakeholders. You’ll lead by example and help set the direction for how our data platform empowers decision-makers.

About you

  • Strategic Individual Contributor: You’re a hands-on leader with a strong vision. You prefer ownership rather than oversight and are energized by building, optimizing, and scaling analytics capabilities.
  • AI-Forward Thinker: You actively seek ways to leverage generative AI and machine learning in data transformation, documentation, and user-facing tooling to drive better business outcomes.
  • Domain Fluent: You go deep into the business context—understanding key metrics, how they evolve, and how best to equip others with data that drives action.
  • Trusted Communicator: You thrive at the intersection of technical and non-technical. You are skilled in translating complex requirements into elegant data products.
  • Results-Driven: You consistently deliver clean, actionable data models and tools that enable informed decisions across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Analytics Engineering Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for analytics engineering within the broader data ecosystem, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Lead with Expertise: Operate independently as the most senior technical expert in analytics engineering, leading architecture and implementation of robust, scalable datasets and data models.
  • Prioritize for Impact: Balance short-term deliverables with long-term vision, maintaining a clear focus on what moves the business forward.
  • Champion AI & Automation: Drive adoption of AI-assisted coding, documentation, and data exploration techniques to streamline development and enhance self-serve capabilities for business users.
  • Build and Maintain the Gold Layer: Collaborate with Data Engineering to implement a best-in-class medallion architecture in Databricks using DBT.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Empower Business Users: Partner with power users to enable data fluency and help teams build and explore reporting tools that unlock value.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Engineering roles, with 2+ years in a lead or management capacity.
  • Experience building out production datasets and a proven ability to implement key industry data warehousing techniques on cloud infrastructure such as Delta Lakehouse or other cloud-based platform (3-5+ years)
  • Strong understanding of advanced concepts in SQL including under-the-hood performance implications
  • 3+ years of experience owning the transformation layer using DBT in a modern stack, in a team setting and preferably in a growth environment
  • Skilled in visualization and reporting platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar—both in building dashboards and enabling business users to self-serve effectively.
  • A track record of building trust in data through well-tested pipelines, proactive alerting, and strong data quality standards.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver intuitive, business-friendly data models that support self-service exploration and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Natural Language Query tools) to enhance development and user-facing capabilities.

The Benefits/Perks You’ll Enjoy

  • Competitive salary, benefits and stock option package
  • 3 weeks PTO in year 1 +14 paid holidays
  • Generous parental leave
  • Any equipment you need to get the job done
  • Free/discounted Lovevery products

Lovevery is a child development company dedicated to helping parents feel confident that they are providing their children with the best possible start in life. Founded in 2015 by Jessica Rolph and Roderick Morris, the Boise, Idaho-based company offers a range of science-backed, Montessori-inspired toys and play-kit subscription boxes designed for children from birth through age five. The core of Lovevery's offering is its Play Kits subscription program, which delivers stage-based play essentials directly to families every two to three months. Each kit is meticulously designed by child development experts, including academics, researchers, and practitioners, to align with a child's specific developmental window, fostering cognitive, physical, visual, and motor learning. The toys are crafted to encourage open-ended play, problem-solving, and imaginative exploration, moving away from overstimulating toys with flashing lights and loud noises.

Lovevery's commitment extends beyond physical products. The company provides multi-channel content for parents, offering research-backed guidance, activity ideas, and insights into child development to support them in their parenting journey. This holistic approach aims to make parenting easier and more joyful by taking the guesswork out of developmental milestones. In addition to its subscription service, Lovevery offers standalone products like The Play Gym, The Block Set, and The Playshelf, as well as digital parenting courses covering topics such as potty training and introducing solids. The company emphasizes sustainability, using materials like FSC-certified wood, organic cotton, non-toxic paint, and baby-safe plastics in its products. Lovevery also focuses on efficient packaging to reduce waste and offsets 100% of its carbon emissions from factory to home. Serving over thirty markets worldwide, Lovevery has garnered recognition for its innovative approach, including awards from TIME Magazine, Fast Company, and Red Dot, and is a certified B Corporation.
