About Longship Marketing

Longship Marketing is a remote-first agency helping brands grow through performance marketing and e-commerce operations. Our distributed team of 15+ professionals across Europe values flexibility, ownership, and getting things done.

This role supports consumer-facing creative work across several recurring themes and special projects for our B2C ecommerce clients and brands.

We're hiring a part-time Illustrator / Graphic Designer (20 hours/week) to create original illustrations and production-ready graphics for both print and digital use. This role works directly with the CEO on special projects as well as recurring creative needs, so the work is varied, hands-on, close to decision-making, and rooted in real B2C ecommerce execution.

This is a strong fit for someone who can move between illustration-led work and commercial design execution: creating original artwork, adapting ideas for marketing use, preparing files for print, and translating direction into polished assets that are usable in the real world.

This role is especially well suited to a freelancer or independent creative professional who wants more stability and a predictable source of workload, while still enjoying variety in themes, formats, and project types.

What You'll Do

  • Create original illustrations and graphics for print products including greeting cards, t-shirts, apparel graphics, and other merchandise

  • Create digital assets for ads, website banners, blog graphics, email creative, and other consumer-facing campaign visuals

  • Translate briefs into concepts that fit one or more recurring thematic areas: handmade children's toys, sports & motivation, or fantasy / sci-fi themed work

  • Adapt artwork across multiple formats and aspect ratios without losing clarity, thematic fit, or commercial impact

  • Design primarily in Figma as our go-to day-to-day design environment, while moving into Adobe tools when specific deliverables or production tasks require them

  • Prepare production-ready files for print and merchandise workflows, including clean source files, export variants, and practical handoff formats

  • Handle both print and web outputs confidently, including the color-profile differences that come with each

  • Work directly with the CEO on special projects, campaign ideas, and evolving creative priorities

  • Bring creative sparks to the role: explore imaginative concepts, push interesting directions, and use experimentation where it improves the work

  • Iterate quickly based on feedback while maintaining strong taste, attention to detail, and visual consistency

  • Build reusable templates, asset libraries, references, and simple style systems that make future creative work faster and more consistent

  • Manage multiple briefs asynchronously, communicate progress clearly, and flag blockers early

  • Help spearhead the integration of an Agentic AI drafting process for faster concept exploration, variant generation, and workflow leverage, while keeping all final published creatives hand-crafted by the designer

  • Work within creative, platform, and licensing constraints where relevant, especially for partner-facing or genre-sensitive work

Requirements

  • Strong commercial portfolio showing real illustration and graphic design work for brands, products, media, or campaigns

  • Clear evidence that you are comfortable and credible in at least one of these thematic areas:

    • handmade children's toys / warm child-friendly product graphics

    • sports & motivation themed graphics / merch / print-on-demand work

    • fantasy / sci-fi themed illustration or related visual work

  • Ability to create both original artwork and layout-based marketing assets

  • Experience producing creative for both print and digital formats in a B2C ecommerce or consumer-facing context

  • Strong command of design fundamentals: composition, hierarchy, typography, color, and visual storytelling

  • Strong working proficiency in Figma for day-to-day design work

  • Familiarity with Adobe design tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop when task-specific work requires them

  • Ability to prepare practical, production-ready source files and exports for downstream use

  • Comfortable handling print and web color considerations, including the differences between screen-first and print-ready outputs

  • Good judgment about adapting a concept across channels instead of treating every asset as a one-off

  • Comfortable working in English in a fully remote, asynchronous environment

  • Self-starter who can work independently, manage time well, and handle revisions professionally

Nice to Have

  • Ability to work credibly across two or more of our thematic areas

  • Experience with greeting cards, gift products, apparel graphics, or print-on-demand production

  • Experience creating performance marketing creative for Meta ads, landing pages, or ecommerce campaigns

  • Familiarity with Shopify, WordPress, or ecommerce content workflows

  • Experience creating visual systems, template libraries, or lightweight brand guidelines

  • Comfort working in a retainer-like, ongoing part-time relationship with shifting project mix over time

  • Understanding of German-market consumer brands, even if German language is not required

  • Excitement about experimentation, visual ingenuity, and finding unexpected creative directions that still serve commercial goals

  • Interest in integrating cutting-edge AI tools into the workflow for rapid drafting or ideation, while preserving hand-crafted final output quality

  • Interest in sci-fi / fantasy media, handmade children's products, sports culture, or gift-oriented consumer brands

  • Basic motion, simple animation, or mockup presentation skills

What we offer

  • Join an international, fully remote team based around the world

  • Flexible working hours: outside of critical meetings, work the hours that suit you and your lifestyle best

  • Asynchronous working with meaningful calls - Slack, Loom, and occasional Zoom

  • Space for taking initiative and pushing forward your own ideas

  • Access to the courses and training materials you need to grow in this position

  • A team-first culture that is supportive and stable

  • 28 holidays per year + national holidays

  • Real room for experimentation and imaginative creative work across B2C ecommerce themes that are not boxed into one narrow aesthetic

  • Opportunity to help shape an Agentic AI-assisted drafting workflow using cutting-edge tools, while keeping final creative craft firmly human-led

  • Use premium, cutting-edge tools in AI and automation with pro licenses

Expanding into new markets remains one of the toughest challenges for B2B companies - without deep local knowledge, marketing campaigns flounder, budgets are wasted, and growth stalls. Longship Marketing exists to solve this problem by providing companies with immediate access to seasoned US and EU marketing experts who understand the cultural nuances, language requirements, and tactical differences that make or break international expansion. Rather than spending months hiring local teams that still lack critical skills, businesses can onboard Longship's specialist crew of data-driven marketers who have executed thousands of successful cross-border campaigns.

The company's mission is grounded in the reality that each market presents unique challenges: cultural heritage shapes messaging, translation isn't enough for content localization, marketing tactics that work in one region often fail in another, and internal teams stretch thin trying to bridge time zone gaps. Longship fills these strategic and operational gaps immediately, offering dedicated account managers, local market experts, and transparent ROI tracking that spans from initial attribution modeling to multi-touchpoint analysis. By establishing proper tracking, developing actionable insights, and calculating real returns on marketing spend, Longship enables companies to scale confidently in the US and Europe without the traditional friction of market entry.
