Living Goods

Living Goods is a non-profit organization that is transforming community health across Sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 2007 by Chuck Slaughter, the organization partners with African governments to digitally empower community health workers (CHWs) who deliver life-saving healthcare door-to-door. Working primarily in Kenya, Uganda, and Burkina Faso, Living Goods equips CHWs with digital tools, training, and ongoing support to assess, diagnose, and treat common childhood illnesses while connecting families to essential health services.

The organization focuses on strengthening government-led health systems rather than building parallel structures. Living Goods has supported over 12,000 CHWs serving 6.7 million people, helping families access quality care at their doorsteps. Their approach combines performance management, mHealth solutions, data-driven decision making, and innovative financing to deliver high-impact, cost-effective community healthcare for less than $3 per person reached. By partnering with governments and leveraging digital technologies including AI, Living Goods aims to enable 50,000 CHWs to reach 25 million people by 2030, contributing to significant reductions in under-five and maternal mortality across the continent.
