This role is perfect for a highly motivated software engineer with deep expertise in networking and distributed systems. You will work on the development and optimization of core networking features, contributing to both client-side and backend services. As part of a collaborative and fully remote team, you’ll take ownership of the product lifecycle—from ideation to implementation—ensuring robust, scalable, and secure networking capabilities. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, a security-first mindset, and the ability to thrive in an autonomous and dynamic environment while working closely with product and design teams.
Accountabilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, test, and document core networking software components.
- Develop and optimize features for control plane, relay infrastructure, and networking protocols.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex networking issues across different environments.
- Ensure operational reliability by participating in incident response, observability, and supporting customer escalations.
- Analyze system efficiency, scalability, and stability, implementing improvements where needed.
- Apply a security-first mindset in both design and implementation of networking components.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to enhance networking capabilities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in networking software and troubleshooting networking issues.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, routing, NAT traversal, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with distributed systems.
· Experience with SQL databases.
· Proficiency in Go is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, provide constructive feedback, and adapt to a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred / Standout Qualifications:
- Experience contributing to open-source networking projects.
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Prior work in fully remote or early-stage startup environments.
