Software Engineer III (Backend Engineer)

Accountabilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design robust solutions.
• Optimize and enhance existing systems for performance, reliability, and low latency.
• Implement and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment.
• Explore and integrate emerging technologies, including generative AI, to enhance backend processes and student outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.
• Participate in code reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend development, with hands-on production code experience.
• Strong background in building scalable, reliable, and performant microservices.
• Experience with Go, Node, or Ruby, and proficiency with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with databases such as Postgres, CockroachDB, and Redis.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms and CI/CD tools like CircleCI.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and a genuine interest in using technology to improve learning experiences.
• Nice-to-have: experience with Docker, Kafka, and integrating generative AI solutions.
