Senior Data Scientist (Europe, remote) - Sherpany

This role offers the opportunity to lead data science initiatives across product and business operations, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights. The Senior Data Scientist will build and manage end-to-end data workflows, design machine learning pipelines, and partner with cross-functional teams to guide product decisions and optimize business outcomes. You will analyze user behavior, retention metrics, and lifecycle patterns, providing data-driven recommendations that directly influence strategy and growth. The position requires technical expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data engineering, along with the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to uncover hidden patterns, drive engagement, and inform product improvements. This is a remote role within Europe, providing flexibility while enabling collaboration across global teams.

Accountabilities

• Own end-to-end data workflows, including extraction, transformation, modeling, and visualization to support business and product decisions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain machine learning models and predictive analytics pipelines for retention, engagement, and product usage.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to define analytical questions, guide experiments, and validate hypotheses.
• Conduct advanced statistical analyses to uncover meaningful patterns, user segments, and actionable insights.
• Translate data insights into recommendations that drive measurable business impact, including product improvements and user engagement strategies.
• Produce high-quality dashboards, reports, and visualizations that effectively communicate key findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in libraries such as pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and seaborn.
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles and pipeline design.
• Experience in retention analytics, user segmentation, and lifecycle modeling is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with tools like DBT, Databricks, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills to convey insights clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously, influence decisions, and translate data findings into actionable product or business improvements.
