We are seeking an experienced RF Systems Engineer to support a cutting-edge commercial space program, focused on next-generation low Earth orbit (LEO) destinations. In this role, you will work on the development, verification, and integration of advanced space-ground communications systems, ensuring reliable connectivity for crew, cargo, and scientific operations. The position offers the chance to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and NASA personnel, in a dynamic, high-impact environment. You will participate in technical reviews, system assessments, and interface development while contributing to the safe and successful operation of commercial LEO platforms. Flexibility and remote work options are available, providing a balance between onsite collaboration and focused technical work. This role demands precision, proactive problem-solving, and a strong understanding of RF and satellite communications.
Accountabilities:
- Develop system requirements and interface documentation for commercial LEO destinations.
- Review and assess commercial companies’ communications designs, test plans, and system review packages to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Participate in program meetings, technical reviews, and integration boards to provide engineering guidance.
- Verify end-to-end spacecraft communications, including relay satellite and ground system integration.
- Interface with NASA contractors, civil servants, and commercial destination provider teams to support mission objectives.
- Contribute to risk assessments, budget considerations, policy updates, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, communications systems development, implementation, and NASA mission operations.
- Strong knowledge of RF concepts, satellite communications, and space systems integration.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook and ability to learn program-specific software tools.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required; active or prior security clearance is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military or NASA experience.
- Familiarity with NASA Near Space Network, including Direct To Earth (DTE) and Space Relay (SR) networks.
- Ability to work independently as a proactive self-starter and collaboratively in teams.
- Experience in preparing technical documents, reports, and presentations.
