We are seeking a skilled Project Developer to lead site diligence and project development efforts for renewable energy projects, including solar and energy storage systems. This role involves assessing sites, managing permitting processes, negotiating land agreements, and coordinating with third-party contractors to advance projects from planning to financial closing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations, while also engaging with local communities and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of development processes. Accountabilities:
- Lead site diligence and evaluate renewable energy sites, including environmental, geotechnical, and grid compatibility assessments.
- Manage land agreements and lease amendments with property owners for project development.
- Prepare and submit permitting documents for energy and industrial facility development, focusing on local, state, and federal requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party consultants and contractors to complete required project tasks.
- Track project budgets, maintain records, and organize project files using internal processes and software.
- Represent the company in community events, land use hearings, and local policy working groups.
- Support project financing activities, including title curative tasks and preparing deliverables for financial closings.
- Assist senior leadership with additional project development tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in renewable energy development or comparable professional experience.
- Excellent communication, public relations, and presentation skills, including comfort speaking to decision-making bodies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple projects.
- Knowledge of real estate title, leases, LLCs, tax maps, deeds, and parcel identification.
- Experience with federal, state, and local permitting processes for renewable energy projects is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, ArcGIS, and project management software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25% of the time independently.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to tasks outside core expertise.
