This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage complex power system study projects from planning through execution, providing technical oversight and delivering high-quality engineering insights. The Power Studies Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, drive project schedules and budgets, and ensure the timely delivery of studies that support substation, transmission, and renewable energy system design. With a combination of technical expertise and leadership, you will serve as the primary client liaison, identify project risks, and implement mitigation strategies. You’ll also contribute to process improvements and mentor junior engineers and project managers. This role balances hands-on technical knowledge with strategic project management, shaping the efficiency, quality, and impact of the studies division.
Accountabilities
- Develop, manage, and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources for power system study projects.
- Lead project execution from initiation through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Identify potential project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
- Maintain high standards of quality, compliance, and technical excellence across all deliverables.
- Motivate, mentor, and provide guidance to cross-functional project teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, facilitating communication and resolving issues.
- Deliver progress reports, align study objectives with broader project goals, and drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the enhancement of processes and best practices within the studies team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience managing power system studies or similar engineering projects.
- Technical knowledge of short circuit, arc flash, load flow, protection coordination, grounding, and other system studies.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, Procore).
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking for projects.
- Strong understanding of industry regulations, NERC standards, and utility requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management experience preferred.
