This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and scale a team responsible for the backbone of a company’s monetization infrastructure. You will oversee the design and development of systems that manage customer entitlements, usage tracking, and billing, ensuring a seamless experience across self-serve, enterprise, and partner-driven sales models. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership, allowing you to influence technical direction, optimize distributed systems, and implement best practices for developer experience and operational excellence. Your work will have a direct impact on business growth while fostering a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture. Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers building core monetization systems.
- Define and execute the technical strategy for a unified monetization platform that integrates with finance and go-to-market operations.
- Build scalable entitlement, purchasing, and billing systems with reusable APIs and UX components for product teams.
- Promote engineering best practices, operational excellence, and high reliability as the team scales.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in product, finance, and sales to ensure alignment and system efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement in platform architecture, data modeling, and distributed systems design.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing and scaling technical teams of six or more engineers.
- Proven track record in building and scaling backend or platform systems in transaction-heavy domains.
- Strong experience guiding technical strategy and product direction.
- Skilled in making decisions under ambiguity while balancing speed, quality, and available data.
- Experience in hiring, developing, and mentoring senior engineers.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SaaS monetization, revenue operations, or entitlement management is a plus.
