This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a DATABASE ENGINEER II in the United States.
The Database Engineer II will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-level databases that support mission-critical operations in a secure and high-performance environment. This role requires deep expertise in Oracle 19c Multitenant architectures, database performance tuning, and cloud-based solutions, along with strong automation skills using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux scripting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, and proactively monitor and optimize databases to meet operational needs. Accountabilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases, including container and pluggable databases in a Multitenant environment.
- Manage database security, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-171.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and troubleshooting to maintain high availability and efficient operation.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripts for routine tasks, reporting, and process improvement.
- Support application teams by resolving database-related issues, collaborating on migrations, and optimizing data workflows.
- Monitor database health, manage storage, archiving, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Document database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures to ensure lifecycle support and compliance.
- Contribute expertise for cloud-based Oracle deployments, including Azure VMs and hybrid architectures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in database administration or engineering, preferably with Oracle 19c.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database scripting for automation and optimization.
- Demonstrated experience with database security, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting cloud-based database deployments and hybrid environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Active Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship required.
- Preferred: 6+ years in DoD or Navy environments, familiarity with RMAN, Data Pump, TDE, and Linux/Unix scripting.
