This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Controls Engineer - LPS in the United States.
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to implement, commission, and optimize automated conveyor and sortation systems. In this role, you will work on-site at customer locations to deploy control systems for new or existing equipment, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to specification. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering, project management, and third-party vendors, to write and implement PLC and HMI programs, integrate subsystems, and support commissioning efforts. The role combines hands-on technical work with strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and collaboration skills. You will also assist in producing accurate documentation, drawings, and as-builts to support successful project completion and system reliability.
Accountabilities
- Implement and commission PLC and HMI programs for conveyor and sortation systems.
- Integrate subsystems, write machine code, and support on-site commissioning efforts.
- Utilize HMI platforms such as Wonderware, RSView, Factory Talk View, and Ignition.
- Collaborate with team members, customer representatives, and third-party vendors to ensure all aspects of projects are addressed.
- Review electrical designs and produce accurate as-built drawings for approval.
- Conduct system acceptance testing and provide site engineering support as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; equivalent work experience considered.
- 2-4 years of industrial controls experience, including:
- PLC programming (Rockwell preferred; Siemens a plus)
- HMI programming (Factory Talk View preferred; Ignition a plus)
- Input/output device design and implementation
- Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, etc.)
- Low voltage electrical design and drawing creation
- Experience with VFDs and Microsoft 365 Office Apps preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, detail-oriented, and results-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage system implementations, enhancements, and retrofits.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and customers.
- Willingness to travel up to 40-50% for on-site project support.
