Technical Director – Energy & Environmental Advisory

Position Overview
J.S. Held is seeking a Technical Director to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for our Energy and Environmental Advisory service line. This senior role is ideal for an industry leader with deep expertise in environmental due diligence, liability assessments, and project oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define technical standards and drive innovation across energy and environmental advisory services.
• Project Oversight: Provide senior review and guidance on complex environmental projects, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
• Environmental Due Diligence: Oversee high-level assessments and investigations, ensuring accuracy and defensibility.
• Liability Assessments: Advise clients on complex environmental liabilities and compliance strategies.
• Business Development: Expand client base and service offerings, leveraging industry expertise and relationships.
• Mentorship: Develop and mentor senior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.

• Advanced degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• 15–20+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with leadership responsibilities in energy or industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent senior credentials preferred.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $130k - $165k. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
