The Engineering Operations Manager owns, governs, and continuously improves the engineering organization’s main process for change and build; the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) which spans across requirement management, design, development, QA, deployment, operations and maintenance.

The role’s mission is to establish a unified way of working which supports disciplined, compliant, secure, consistent, and high-quality execution by all development teams, based on agreed best practices, shared frameworks and tools across internal engineering teams and external engineering partners. Having different approaches across teams can at the same time enable agility and efficiency so the role also involves identifying beneficial process variations.

This is a cross-functional leadership role with strong focus on process and governance where success will be based on the ability to capture the needs of the Engineering Managers responsible for executing the SDLC process in the day-to-day work as well as the needs of key process stakeholders such as the Chief Product Office, Platform and Operations.

Responsibilities

SDLC Governance & Execution Oversight

  • Engage with stakeholders within engineering, product management, customer support, IT, infosec and platform to ensure that the process is known and well-integrated with the rest of Infovista.

  • Ensure adherence to defined SDLC stages, quality gates, and release criteria.

  • Monitor traceability from requirements to implementation, testing, and release.

  • Identify and escalate delivery risks or process deviations along with corrective actions.

  • Weigh the need for standardization versus maintaining beneficial process variations.

  • Integration of secure SDLC principles and other compliance areas were appropriate.

Delivery Performance & Metrics

  • Define and monitor operational KPIs for organizational performance evaluation on team, product and overall engineering level.

  • Provide structured performance reporting to different levels of the organization.

  • Facilitate improvement initiatives based on insights.

DevOps & Toolchain Governance

  • Coordinate with Lead Developers and technical platform teams to ensure:

    • Stable and efficient CI/CD practices

    • Consistent branching and release strategies

    • Appropriate automation and AI adoption

    • Compliance with code quality, regulatory and security standards

  • Ensure teams and external partners operate within defined toolchain and workflow standards.

  • Monitor pipeline performance and escalate systemic issues to responsible technical leaders. The Engineering Operations Manager does not own hands-on pipeline implementation but ensures accountability and consistency.

Governance of internal resources and external partners

  • Ensure external development partners comply with internal SDLC standards and quality requirements.

  • Monitor partner delivery performance against relevant business agreements.

  • Coordinate onboarding of people into established development and release processes.

  • Participate in structured vendor performance reviews with Engineering leadership.

  • Escalate systemic quality or compliance risks.

  • Resource availability and capacity planning.
