We're looking for a Senior Game Designer to join our team at Hypixel Studios, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. As a Senior Game Designer, you will work closely with Design, Art, and Engineering to design, prototype, and implement systems and features that delight members of our diverse playerbase. In your role, you will be willing to tackle complex problems, be responsible for delivering thoughtful and compelling design solutions, and be comfortable seeing these initiatives through to completion. As a Senior, you are confident in your abilities in both game design and mentorship. You will serve as a role model for other designers through constructive feedback, professionalism and empathy to ensure your team are the best that they can be.

Your Craft - Some of your role expectations:
- Champion our players, understand how your game design impacts their experience, gain insights from the community and player-base to improve features, and own that iteration process from conception to post-release.
- Ability to plan and estimate design efforts, followed by the creation of clear and concise design documents and specifications that demystify the why, articulate the pros and cons, and can be evaluated and implemented by cross-discipline teams.
- Possess an understanding of System Design fundamentals, know when to push past them, and have the ability to balance those decisions against product goals.
- Collaborate within the design team, and across disciplines, to see your design through to completion, while being an advocate for our team and the game.
- Utilize your intellectual curiosity and critical-thinking to evaluate and improve upon your own working methodologies and processes; have a growth mindset, concentrating on refining your core skill set, while gaining a broader knowledge of all facets of game design.
Essential Traits:
- 5+ years of experience in professional game design on Open-world, Survival, Crafting, and Building online games
- Experience with and passion for online titles that allow players to socially interact in shared spaces; what engages players, how they interact, why they stay active, and the psychology underpinning it all.
- Clear, demonstrable understanding of what motivates players moment to moment; excited about how progression and reward mechanisms translate to fun and compelling gameplay for our players.
- Self-driven and autonomous; sprint, milestone, and project rituals are second nature, ability to balance multiple day-to-day tasks, including sharing design knowledge and practice with others.
- Ability to work effectively with others, and with proper cadence, in a production environment, remotely or otherwise.
Bonus Traits:
- Shipped or worked on at least one AAA online game
- Experience planning for, iterating on, balancing, and releasing new content and features to a live online product, across multiple platforms
