Your base location must be within 60 minute drive of the Shotton HVDC Converter, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 2UL, this is a mandatory requirement, we just ask that you are happy to travel to our offices and other site locations as the business requires. You will also travel abroad, to the UK, Sweden and beyond, both for development opportunities and for work assignments, including Factory System Tests at our awesome factories oversees.

Our Service business provides 24/7 support to ensure we keep the lights switched on! You will be part of the 1st and 2nd line support team to ensure that we can provide flexibility to our customers, day and night.

What you’ll do:

You’ll play a key role in supporting our HVDC Customers, and ensuring delivery of all long term service agreements on our client sites;

  • You will be a crucial part of the HVDC Service Team, supporting our local maintenance-based engineers, working in the systems and stations as part of our commissioning team, being part of our on-call rota, supporting Project Managers with customer reporting and seeking ways to maintain the value and maximise the design life of our HVDC Systems.
  • You will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that training, competency and certification of all site support staff is planned and up to date and helping others to develop and succeed.
  • You will have the opportunity to be involved at the very first stage in tendering for new opportunities, applying your technical know-how to our submissions.
  • Customer service will be your utmost priority; you will be ensuring exceptionally high levels of availability to our customers; ensuring that we maintain strong performance and solid relationships.
  • You will be passionate about improving our Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability performance, looking for opportunities to continuously improve.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven qualifications in an engineering trade (e.g. electrician/instrumentation technician) or Engineering degree, together with demonstrable history of technical background, including High Voltage Substation experience, Factory Acceptance tests (MACH and SCM systems), and maintenance/fault finding on both HV, LV and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in delivering technical reports, fault analysis, and working with maintenance management systems; and completing customer fault reports and commissioning documentation.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communications skills, as well as MS Office skills.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations, demonstrated by achievement of a relevant qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, CSCS).
  • Experience in providing exceptional customer service and working in high performing teams.
  • Full driving license and a desire to travel to fulfil your work duties (we will provide the vehicle!).
  • Cyber security/IT experience would be a asset to your application for this role.
  • Even more beneficial to your application, would be previous HVDC system experience, safety switching or power plant operational experience, impressed voltage awareness, previous electrical/mechanical authorisations, and additional maintenance/fault finding experience in other systems such as UPS systems, Battery chargers, Air handling units, PLCS, Generations, fire detection and protection systems, and SCADA/PLC and control systems.
