Responsibilities:

  • Promote a strong health, safety and sustainability culture.

  • Maintain an effective presence on the project sites.

  • Guide and assist team members in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, as well as acting as technical resource and advisor to management on related matters.

  • Maintain a Health and Safety Management System in conformance to ISO45001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Identify health and safety issues, recommend and actively assist in identifying / implementing control/corrective measures to achieve compliance with governing Regulations and company policies.

  • Lead the performance of ABRAs (Activity Based Risk Assessments) as required.

  • Perform Management of Change as required.

  • Identify, develop, provide and track training needs.

  • Conduct and/or support the incident investigation process and ensure the appropriate follow-up.

  • Manage and conduct various internal safety audits (not limited to): guarding, safety systems, ergonomics, lockout/tag-out, confined space, emergency response, WHMIS, forklift safety, etc.

  • Manage the workplace inspection program, report finding and follow-up to ensure corrective action is taken.

  • Prepare and share weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on safety KPIs.

  • Seek and share best practices and assist other facilities/teams and teams with safety related manners if required.

  • Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO14001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Coordinate, oversee and ensure environmental regulatory compliance and annual permit renewals.

  • Compile and maintain records in accordance with governmental agencies; completes and ensures submission of applicable annual reporting to the appropriate regulatory agencies.

  • Monitor federal and provincial environmental legislations, regulatory requirements, new development programs and proceeds with required updates.

  • Participate in the management and coordination of HSE projects as needed.

  • Manage Early and Safe Return to Work programs.

  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities and training.

  • Ensure HSE data is compiled and entered in the respective digital tools as required in a timely manner.

  • Manage and maintain continuity of certification for HSE Audits like COR, SMA, ISO..etc.

  • Prepare field service project related HSE documentation. This includes but is not limited to E-Hasp’s, RAMS, JSA’s, HIRA’s, procedures. Update and develop these as required for customer specific requirements. Confer with the Project Managers for assistance when required.

  • Navigate and populate customer safety document portals that regulate site access.

  • Conduct any required reviews of customer requirements (documentation, policies, procedures) or provincial legislation.

  • Communicate and collaborate with customer and contractor HSE professionals to find common ground with policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of identifying and managing HSE matters.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Strong work ethics and sense of responsibility and accountability.

  • Motivated/committed, adaptable, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks.

  • Must be a team player and a team builder.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Above average proficiency in (MS Office) and other computer applications required.

  • Willingness to travel to remote areas.

  • Note: This position requires extensive travel to urban and rural/remote areas within your geographic area. Estimate travel 80% of work time.

Education/Experience Desired:

  • College Diploma/bachelor degree in Occupational Environmental Health & Safety or demonstrated equivalent education and experience.

  • ISO 45001, ISO 14001, COR knowledge. Experience in certification and maintaining certification preferred.

  • 3-5 Year Occupational Environmental Health & Safety experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal HSE laws, regulations and standards.
