About the Role:HighLevel is looking for a strong Engineering Manager to lead our Reporting Team -- a high-impact group responsible for building the platform that powers analytics, dashboards, and business insights for our users.
This team’s mission is to build a robust, secure, and flexible system where business users and developers can create dashboards, widgets, and reports from any data source — including product data, custom business metrics, or third-party integrations. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable leading engineers, managing delivery, shaping product strategy, and solving deeply technical challenges in a distributed, multi-database environment.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 2+ years in engineering management
- Experience building analytics or reporting products, dashboarding frameworks, or embedded data platforms
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and real-time/batch pipelines
- Familiarity with multiple data stores and query engines such as SQL, MongoDB, Firestore, ElasticSearch, Clickhouse, and Snowflake
- Comfort with event-driven systems using tools like GCP Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, and subscriptions
- Experience managing full-stack teams working with NestJS (backend) and Vue.js (frontend)
- Track record of building platforms that enable internal and external developers to build on top of a core system
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring growth, motivation, and high performance
- Drive the architecture and delivery of a flexible reporting platform with customizable widgets, embeddable dashboards, and secure data pipelines
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to define and deliver on reporting product goals with strong user impact
- Guide system design involving streaming and batch pipelines, data modeling, and dashboard generation across multiple data sources
- Oversee monitoring, alerting, and system health, ensuring robust observability for all reporting services
- Ensure performance, scalability, and governance of reporting features for hundreds of thousands of accounts
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate with internal and third-party systems
- Own team delivery, roadmap prioritization, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Foster engineering best practices, including code quality, observability, testing, and CI/CD processes
Bonus Points:
- Experience managing teams building self-serve analytics, embeddable dashboards, or data visualization frameworks
- Exposure to forecasting and anomaly detection features in reporting systems
- Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS environments, access control, and data isolation
- Understanding of observability practices and cost/performance tradeoffs across analytical queries
