We are looking for a full-stack software engineer who specializes in SaaS.
What skills do we expect of all Hercules engineers to have?
We expect all software engineers at Hercules to
be incredibly strong in system design and architecture across infrastructure, data modeling, API design, and monorepos
be able to truly 10x their workflow with AI coding tools while also maintaining high code quality
have a good product sense with a clear background shipping to customers and iterating
have a strong experience in Typescript, React, Git, containers, Postgres, and Redis
talk with users, come up with new ideas autonomously, and ship!
What additional skills do we expect you to have for this specific role?
You are expected to have strong experience building/maintaining all of the following:
Billing & monetization: subscription, entitlements (ideal: usage based)
Identity: OAuth, RBAC, API keys, org/workspace/user model (ideal: SSO/SAML, 2FA, OIDC)
Product: Product Analytics, Feature flags, A/B testing
Common SaaS features: (as many as possible of notifications, i18n, accessibility, text editors, table grouping/sorting/filtering etc)
Developer platform: webhooks, API docs, OpenAPI
What are examples of projects you’d lead?
You could build
SDK features that users can seamlessly integrate into their apps like Hercules Commerce (our product catalog and payment processing solution), Hercules CMS, Hercules Files & Media, etc
novel AI agent features like multi-agent editing, subagents, browser automation,
collaboration features like multiplayer, comments/annotations
marketplace infrastructure to allow customers to sell app templates
internal rules, styles guides, and other prompts for AI coding assistants like Claude Code and Cursor

Is Hercules in-office or remote?
Hercules founding team works in-office in San Francisco (Kearny and Bush). We have a very strong preference for in office. We are open to remote for exceptional candidates in US time zones who would be willing/able to travel to the office regularly.

What’s the compensation?
$100k-$250k + equity (depends on seniority, equity, and location)
