Skeleton Key is a new game development studio and division of Wizards of the Coast. We are a group of industry veterans who are guided by the belief that empowering our teams and providing the proper time, tools, and support we can foster a creative culture where everyone can do their best work.

Our studio is located in Austin, TX, and we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sr Build and Test Engineer to join us and bring our first AAA game to life. We offer fully remote, hybrid, or in-office options for day-to-day work.

Reporting to the Technical Director you will play a meaningful role as we continue development in pre-production. In this role, you will be responsible for various initiatives such as: builds, automated testing, and other general support workflows for the team.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer, with a deep knowledge of developing cross-platform AAA games, who works with all teams to build a truly next-gen experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical expertise of CI/CD support building the product and related tools
  • Build, set up and maintain backend cloud services for such tasks as building, automated testing and analytics
  • Develop and maintain internal tools and workflows to streamline game development processes, including build systems, version control, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Ensure compatibility and compliance with various gaming platforms and distribution channels, such as consoles and PC.
  • Identify and address technical issues, bugs, and performance issues throughout the development lifecycle in collaboration with quality assurance teams.
  • Assess technical risks and dependencies, developing contingency plans to mitigate potential roadblocks and ensure project success.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends, exploring innovative solutions to improve the technical capabilities and competitive advantage of the studio.

What You'll Bring:

  • 6+ years in a Tools Engineer role with at least 1 AAA-game shipped.
  • Proven experience with sophisticated technical systems and proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or Python.
  • Expert-level knowledge in game engine architecture (Unreal Engine) and familiarity with related tools, plugins, and frameworks.
  • Experience developing and maintaining software and team backlogs using industry-standard software development practices (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Deep understanding of platform-specific requirements and constraints for gaming consoles and PCs.
  • Proven track record of diagnosing and solving technical issues, using debugging tools and methodologies to identify and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks.

Nice to Have:

  • Jenkins or TeamCity experience
  • AWS experience
  • Unreal Gauntlet Automation Framework experience
  • Snowflake experience

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range: $129,200
  • Pay Range End: $215,520
