  • Grid Compliance Driven Turbine Design Development:

    • Ensure compliance with the contract and applicable grid codes for GE wind turbines and the GE Wind Park Controller system (WindCONTROL), including interfaces with Customer Control/SCADA systems or grid operators.

    • Define and implement strategies for grid code compliance testing, leading internal testing activities and supporting customers during Grid Code Compliance tests.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Mentor junior engineers and share valuable feedback with commissioning and service teams to improve engineering processes.

    • Optimize turbine operation under various conditions, including normal and contingency situations.

    • Identify and evaluate additional scope arising from customer communication and project management, ensuring any proposed changes are commercially beneficial for GE.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 3 years experience using PSCAD

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the wind industry, electrical, or electric power engineering.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in wind, electrical, electronic engineering, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical performance analysis of electric power systems with power electronic sources or loads.

  • Experience with simulation tools (PSCAD required, and MATLAB / PSSE desired).

  • Experience with time-domain simulation tools, specifically programming, tuning, and using user-written “black box” models in PSCAD for wind turbine generators, or other advanced power electronic-based systems (desired).

  • Experience in analyzing grid codes, extracting requirements, and defining system/component specifications for meeting those grid codes.

  • Experience in grid code compliance testing.

  • Knowledge of relevant wind industry Standards and Design Codes.

  • Ability and availability to travel (national and international) 10% to 20% of the year.

  • Strong, self-directed, collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Comfortable providing technical presentations to peers, customers, and leadership regarding the details of technical issues and project status. Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
