Multimedia Producer, Lifestyle Brands

The USA TODAY NETWORK Multimedia team is seeking a Producer to support video and audio storytelling for our growing portfolio of lifestyle and news-adjacent brands, including (but not limited to) our flagship Humankind brand, USA TODAY Pets, and USA TODAY Cars. As part of our Series, Special Projects, and Sports multimedia team, this role focuses on creating compelling content for flagship lifestyle verticals. A core focus is leveraging social media to amplify our storytelling, engage diverse audiences, and drive brand growth across platforms. The Producer will oversee production, coordination, scripting, editing, and publishing across digital platforms—including social media, emerging channels, YouTube, and USA TODAY O&Os—and will experiment with innovative approaches to keep our brands at the forefront of digital storytelling. The ideal candidate is passionate about shaping and executing social strategies that set trends and foster vibrant online communities.

Collaboration is key, as the Producer will work closely with content and audience teams to plan, coordinate, and develop stories, executing both daily videos and longer-lead projects. Responsibilities encompass editorial coordination, story development, scriptwriting, and ensuring all projects meet editorial standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate also will serve as a strategic manager of our multiple Facebook and Instagram accounts. Beyond day-to-day operations, this role seeks someone who brings innovative ideas to enhance our social media presence, drive engagement, and expand our audience. The successful candidate will take ownership of shaping the voice, look, and impact of each account, consistently pursuing new opportunities, experimenting with fresh content, and setting ambitious goals for growth and community building. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about social media, eager to make a measurable impact, and dedicated to keeping our platforms at the cutting edge of digital storytelling.

We’re looking for someone experienced in digital video production, adept at creating content in various formats—including short-form and mid-form videos, photo galleries, vodcasts and articles—and with proven success in social media ecosystems. Strong creative vision, the ability to develop and execute thematic, series-driven video approaches for diverse audiences, solid editorial judgment, and a thorough understanding of editorial standards and best practices are essential for this role. Experience producing and editing premium digital video using the Adobe Creative Suite is essential.

The role requires a hands-on producer and excellent communicator, with the ability to interface with editors, producers, reporters, and product teams around the USA TODAY Network. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska and Hawaii.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce scripts, articles, and videos aligned with editorial and brand strategy of our lifestyle brands and series.
  • Manage Humankind and USA TODAY Pets social platforms (primarily Instagram and Facebook) to drive engagement and audience growth.
  • Approve and maintain consistent social language across platforms.
  • Pitch and execute cross-platform collaborations and evergreen content.
  • Analyze performance metrics and optimize workflows using tools like True Anthem and Parsley.
  • Collaborate with editorial, visual, and multimedia teams on high-impact storytelling and project delivery across the USA TODAY Network.
  • Coordinate and optimize content publishing processes across platforms; train team members on social workflows and best practices.
  • Assist with breaking news coverage and special projects as needed; video editing and field production may be required occasionally.
  • Represent the multimedia team in planning meetings with the newsroom and audience groups.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in social media strategy and digital video production.
  • In-depth experience in all editorial and production aspects of premium digital video.
  • Working knowledge of audio production and storytelling best practices.
  • Experience producing video for digital platforms in multiple formats.
  • Strong writing, editorial judgment, and content strategy skills.
  • Familiarity with tools such as True Anthem, Parsley reports, and CMS systems.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and analytics for social performance.
  • Ability to lead projects and collaborate across teams.
