Position Overview

The Head of Global Program Management (VP) is responsible for leading the Global Program Management team in the Manufacturing Sciences organization to ensure timely manufacturing campaign starts of robust operations and is a member of the global Operations Leadership Team. Other projects may be managed as well, for example new technology implementations or special studies carried out within the manufacturing environment. Deployment of standard work processes and developing the global culture to embrace them is critical to success, and measured by low stress, highly efficient project teamwork. Active participation in global planning, and the development of best practices to be deployed globally extends the impact of the role.

Job Description

Principal Accountabilities:

    • Leadership (60%)
      • Via a matrix structure provide leadership and mentoring to PM groups across the FDB network.
      • Provide feedback to members of the team to enhance demonstration of expected behaviors and provide support on poor performance.
      • Maintaining a focus on priorities and creating a sense of urgency.
      • Seek innovative solutions to issues or inefficiencies within and outside core responsibilities. Take action to make them a reality.
      • Timely and high-quality decision making.
      • Actively foster collaboration and teamwork across the Operations Leadership Team and local sites to ensure excellence in program delivery, program and portfolio reporting. Ensure any changes/improvements are reviewed to determine success and amend if required.
    • Strategy (20%)
      • Key resource to the Operations Leadership Team, keeping them informed of Tech Transfer and project related issues.
      • Collaborate with related line functions on global strategic projects and global alignment/sharing of best practice.
      • Participate in or lead cross site and cross functions forums to align and optimize global tech transfer methodology.
      • Contribute to cross site/global alignment on business process systems and practices including technology transfer, data management, metrics, and resource utilization.
      • Collaborate globally with Manufacturing Operations and PM to create and maintain production relationships and norms with external partners.
    • Project Management (20%)
      • Collaborate with colleagues globally to align business practices, implement new methodologies, and improve operations.
      • Deploy the standard approach across all projects and tech transfers, continually seeking efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improvement.
      • Assess staffing requirements and work within the Global function to resource Tech Transfers and Projects accordingly.
      • Function as a Tech Transfer lead/ and Head of site PM as required.
      • Compliance: Keep current on cGMP, regulatory and quality requirements that impact Company manufacturing.
    • All other job duties that may be assigned.

Background and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years in the biotech or pharmaceutical environment related experience or;
  • M.Sc. or PhD. in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years in the biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
  • 15 or more years of leadership experience is required within a large global matrix organization.
  • PMP or other relevant project management certifications preferred.
  • Mastery knowledge in Project/Program Management.
  • Mastery knowledge of cGMP manufacturing operations and strong understanding of global manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent leadership and change management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate across the Company network.
  • Excellent attention to detail and tenacity are key skills.
  • Proven experience working in a global matrix organization.
  • Expertise in project risk analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.

The US salary range for this position is $250,000.00 to $325,000.00. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This position will require access to technical data, technology and source code that is controlled under U.S. export laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations at 22 C.F.R.
