Job Title: Post-Closing Mortgage Representative

Job Location: Fully Remote

Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt / Billable Hours

Reports To: Mortgage Verification Manager

Base Rate: $19 - $22 per hour

Job Description: As a Post-Closing Mortgage Representative, you will be reviewing closed loan files and re-verifying information from the loan application, such as employment / income, assets and undisclosed liabilities. In addition, the role includes researching and entering information accurately into the company database, which generates detail-oriented reports based on the findings. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review mortgage documents to identify possible misrepresentations or discrepancies
  • Perform and manage verification of employment with various employers
  • Verify assets with banks and review credit records for undisclosed debts
  • Obtain records from various websites to confirm / dispute information in the loan application
  • Maintain effective record keeping for all calls, e-mails and case related communications
  • Create and submit confidential verification requests and follow up to ensure timely responses
  • Can meet due dates during periods of high volume
  • Work within a given period of time to complete these tasks
  • Complete relevant entries in web-based system for verifications to compile final report

Requirements

Competencies:

Attention to Detail: The ability to meticulously review mortgage documents, conduct database searches, and identify discrepancies in information.

Data Analysis: Proficiency in quickly analyzing and interpreting data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Time Management: Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and handle tasks efficiently, especially during high-volume periods.

Record Keeping: Strong organizational skills to maintain comprehensive and orderly records of all submissions.

Confidentiality: Adherence to strict confidentiality standards when handling sensitive and confidential data related to mortgage applications.

Computer Proficiency: Comfort and skill in navigating computer systems, including data entry at a minimum of 50 words per minute, and a good understanding of Microsoft products.

Independent Work: The ability to independently manage daily assignments and work remotely.

Adaptability: Flexibility to work comfortably in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment where tasks may change quickly.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for providing timely updates and collaborating effectively with team members.

Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting online research using a variety of databases and public record sources.

Spelling and Grammar: Strong spelling and grammar skills to ensure high-quality written communication.

Requirements: Candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Experience with navigating computer systems as well as excellent data entry skills (minimum of 50 WPM)
  • Self-starter who holds themselves accountable for results and performance
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Dedicated workspace and accessible during normal business hours
  • Smartphone and good internet connection
  • Private investigator license or willingness to get licensed (requirements vary by state)

Preferred Skills/Experience:

While not required, the following skills and experience are preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Background in mortgage quality control, mortgage industry and / or investigations

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing tasks at a computer workstation. Limited requirements for mobility, as the role primarily involves desk-based activities.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read and interpret information from various sources, including mortgage documents and computer screens.
  • Adequate fine motor skills to operate a computer keyboard and mouse with precision during data entry and document review.
  • Ability to hear and comprehend verbal communication either in person, over the phone, or through other communication devices.
  • Occasional lifting of documents, office supplies, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry and document review, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and others.
