  • Provide data protection and privacy program subject matter expertise to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with the various lines of business in Germany to help deliver practical plans and advice that will limit privacy risk and help to fulfill business objectives.
  • Draft and review Data Privacy & Data Transfer Agreements, in coordination with local and Global Privacy team’ internal counsel. Provide privacy support in negotiations with third parties. Provide legal assessments of contractual risks and guidance related to enforcement of contractual claims.
  • Develop and review site Data Privacy and Cookie Notices.
  • Research and document complex processing operations, analyze and document data flows and IT systems, ensuring appropriate lawful basis of processing and data transfer documentation.
  • Monitor changes in the evolving local regulatory regimes and share them with the Privacy Office team and local business leaders.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the principles of Privacy by Design.
  • Conduct, support and evaluate Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) activities, especially in the areas of developing new products/services; updating existing products/services, selecting third-party service providers and implementing new internal processes.
  • Provide support regarding the resolution of complex Data Subject Rights requests.
  • Support the efficient operation and continuous improvement of the corporate breach reporting, data retention, data subject rights reporting, record of processing and PIA processes.
  • Assist in the communication of the corporate privacy program to the business. Candidates are expected to demonstrate effective presentation and influencing skills.
  • Manage a diverse workload and multiple projects at the same time. Candidates will also demonstrate the ability to keep track of multiple and varying regulatory obligations.
  • Provide training of employees on data protection matters.
  • Provide advice on procedures involving supervisory authorities.
  • Conduct data protection audits.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Law degree with a strong academic record
  • more than 5 years of experience in privacy and data protection, either in-house or in a law firm
  • Familiarity with applicable privacy laws and regulations in Germany, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • proficiency in commercial contracts & privacy post-qualified experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Experience in the retail or financial industry is a plus
