Controller

Emergent Software is seeking an experienced Controller to own the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting as the business continues to scale. This role is critical to ensuring GAAP-compliant financials, strong internal controls, and reliable reporting to leadership.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in professional services or technology services, understands project-based revenue models, and has hands-on experience implementing and maintaining ASC 606 revenue recognition. Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process

• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements

• Maintain accurate revenue, margin, and expense reporting

• Own and maintain ASC 606 revenue recognition policies

• Review customer contracts for accounting implications

• Manage accounting operations (AR, AP, GL). Note: initially this role will own AR and collections

• Maintain internal controls and balance sheet reconciliations

• Serve as a finance owner within NetSuite

• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership

• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller

• 2+ years of experience in a services-based organization

• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment

• Strong understanding of project-based accounting

• Ability to manage a full close process

• Strong attention to detail and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• NetSuite experience

• CPA or CMA license

• Hands-on ASC 606 implementation experience
