Opportunity The Project Controls Manager- Cost will be a vital member of the leadership team of the North American division of Edged Data Centers. We are looking for someone who will work directly with the Platform Delivery Managers and various other Edged departments and be responsible for managing technical, cost efficient, and fast paced Data center construction programcost functions including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, risk management, and assist in commercial management. The Project Controls Manager- Costneeds to be an agile, team-focused individual, with proven professionalism, who is comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. Key Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Implement project controls systems for tracking and reporting project performance to agreed KPIs across projects, programs and overall portfolio.
- Reporting and highlighting the cost impact of scope change and prolongation across the portfolio of Divisional Projects and integrating to project timelines.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress updates, internal and external, for all projects.
- Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and improvement within the Project Controls team and the wider Project Delivery team.
- Organizes project reviews throughout the life of each project.
- Mentor and train project managers and assistant project managers on best practice and project controls/ cost management functions.
- Supports cost management process creation and implementation and provide guidance to project managers and other project controls professionals.
- Analyzes variances in cost performance against the plan and communicates the reasons for the issuance of variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management.
- Creates project and program level cost reports, cashflows, accrual reports and forecasts.
- Implement a risk management process at the project, program and portfolio level.
- Review and update risk logs and project/ program risk profiles and make recommendations for contingency use and status
- Provides regular, timely updates on project status and present to the various stakeholders and Edged company executives.
- Work directly with Lenders, lender technical advisors, and project owners to communicate status of projects and prepare required reports.
- Participates in the establishment and compliance of document control best practices.
- Ensures projects are executed in accordance with contractual requirements, Program Management Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitors vendor compliance with contract commercial terms and commitments. Assist vendors with meeting contractual requirements.
- Work with Edged Program Managers to ensure Autodesk Data is up to date and produce reports as needed on a periodic basis for Management review and to ensure program is meeting overall budget.
Skills & Requirements Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or Construction Management, in addition to 8 years of relevant experience in the field of cost management or project controls.
- Advanced understanding of project Risk Management requirements.
- Experience with various Cost Management Systems including Autodesk Cost is highly desirable
- Experience with Earned Value Management processes and implementation in Data Center development projects
- Knowledge of Power BI design and Reporting.
- Commercial construction exposure and preferably in Data Centers.
Specific Skills / Abilities
- Experience directly related to the design or construction of large data center facilities, either colocation or client owned/operated.
- Previous vendor and contractor/subcontractor negotiation and management skills associated with construction and program execution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
