Position Overview The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role oversees key accounting functions including general ledger and accounts payable. The Director of Accounting will play a critical role in strengthening accounting processes, implementing scalable systems, and supporting the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee preparation and review of consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor close timelines and implement improvements to shorten the close cycle.
Accounts Payable & Accounting Operations
- Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Establish strong controls over vendor onboarding, invoice approvals, and payment processing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls related to disbursements.
- Drive improvements in AP efficiency through automation, workflow improvements, and system integration.
- Partner with Procurement and Operations teams to improve purchase order and invoice matching processes.
- Participate in the deployment of a Procure-to-Pay system and represent the Accounts Payable function on the P2P project.
Systems Implementation & Process Improvement
- Support ERP and financial system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
- Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes, improve data accuracy, and increase efficiency.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and Operations teams to implement tools that enhance invoice processing, reporting, and financial visibility.
- Develop scalable accounting processes to support business growth and operational complexity.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
- Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience managing accounting operations and teams
Preferred
- Experience in a public company or IPO-ready environment
- Familiarity with NetSuite, or similar ERP systems
- Experiences with public accounting
- Experience with real estate or data center industry
