Position Summary
The Senior Tax Consultant will support team members delivering timely and accurate results for DMA’s Accrual Analysis service which is part of our suite of Managed Tax Services. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for assisting on certain recovery and audit defense projects as needed, as well as providing other miscellaneous state and local tax consulting services, including performing multi-state research and working with state taxing authorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver timely and accurate accrual analysis services
Coordinate with DMA sales tax compliance team for delivery of accrual analysis output for timely filing of clients’ sales tax returns
Coordinate with DMA regional tax experts regarding complex tax scenarios relating to accrual analysis service
Perform necessary research to maintain accrual analysis tax content for clients
When needed, assist with the review of client records for transaction tax refund potential, credits, deficiency assessments, and procedural recommendations
Prepare written reports supporting DMA’s position for State taxing authorities; reviews and submits periodic status reports to clients and prepares Letters of Findings for clients
Works with State tax officials on behalf of clients
Updates work-in-process reports
Maintains excellent knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, and court decisions
Research more complex tax issues
Identify and collect data on prospective clients
Analyze potential opportunities
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Economics, or related field
5-7 years professional experience preferably in accounting or tax
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and possess exceptional attention to detail
Organizational and interpersonal skills required
Experience researching tax questions and issues
Demonstrated problem solving, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
Valid driver’s license
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position does not qualify for employment-based sponsorship.
Travel as required (approximately 5%)
