Our partner is an internationally recognized product manufacturing company for the automotive industry serving well-known brand names across the world.
For their internal needs, we are seeking for a Global Commodity Lead to drive category and supplier strategy for serial forging: source and award contracts (RFI/RFQ), manage critical materials and supplier performance, handle market research, contractual compliance and global escalations, and develop long‑term commodity strategies.
Primary Responsibilities of the Role:
- Manage global supplier base and supplier relationship management.
- Lead commercial negotiations and maintain budget/target costing.
- Drive cross‑functional global cost‑reduction projects.
- Use business intelligence to identify and realize savings opportunities.
- Support product and process optimization for quality, sustainability, capacity and cost improvements.
- Conduct review meetings to assess supplier performance and align technology roadmaps.
- Execute supplier rating and strategic supplier development.
- Establish and optimize sustainable supplier relationships.
Desired skills and experience:
- Degree in Economics or Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience with electronic/mechanical commodity components (motors, connectors, sensors, etc.).
- Several years in Commodity Management, Sourcing, Buying or Program Sourcing (automotive experience preferred).
- Knowledge of tooling/manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, die casting) and related tooling/raw materials.
- Understanding of global commodity markets, cost drivers, supply/value chains and key players.
- Strong negotiation, contracting and supplier‑partnering skills across SME and large suppliers.
- Strategic mindset to link market trends and macro/geopolitical changes to sourcing strategy.
- High interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills; independent and responsible worker.
- Experience working with remote teams and leading functionally; negotiation experience.
- Fluent English and German (desirable).
- Willingness to travel.
- Proficient in SAP (R/3) and SAP‑based analytics.
