Job Overview

Davies US is looking for an experienced Press Officer to help maintain and increase Davies’ strong profile across the insurance and highly regulated sectors in the US. Reporting to the PR Manager, you will execute and oversee the delivery of Davies’ media strategy for the US market, working in close co-ordination with the global press office and marketing team. You will look for creative and innovative ways to engage the media with exciting storytelling and oversee press campaigns to increase Davies’ profile in target publications.

To be successful in this role, you need to be proactive, independent, and takes initiative with consistent follow through, superb communication skills, verbal and written, conducted in a timely manner and superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines. You must have 2 years + experience in a B2B public relations role in-house or agency environment, excellent written communication skills and exceptional understanding of the media landscape in the US and North America. Additionally, you will need to be an excellent team player with interpersonal skills, high level attention to detail and problem-solving skills and capable of working collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision. This role is a full-time, home-based position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee and deliver the Davies media strategy in the US, working in close collaboration with both the global press team and the US marketing team
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with target media
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to find and develop agenda-setting stories
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team and support sales objectives by finding opportunities to amplify Davies’ products, services and messaging in the press
  • Write press releases, fact sheets and briefing documents to ensure messaging is clear and aligned with the business
  • Co-ordinate with the global press office to align global and local PR messages
  • Manage daily media monitoring, and associated services and help produce communications reports and analyses to demonstrate media impact
  • Be the first port of call for journalists and respond quickly and sensitively to incoming media requests
  • Use your understanding of the market to look for opportunities to elevate Davies experts to our target audiences
  • Pitch and place stories with target media
  • Assist global press office with issues and crisis management to provide statements and information

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • 2 years + experience in a B2B public relations role in-house or agency environment
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Exceptional understanding of the media landscape in the US and North America

Preferred

  • Previous experience working within insurance / financial / professional services sector
  • Knowledge of insurance / FS trade media landscape in the U.S and North America
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications / journalism / public relations or related discipline is preferred
  • Experience working in a busy press office or PR agency function

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a home-based, full time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand, as necessary.
