Privacy Hub is seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous senior data scientist with leadership qualities eager to progress to becoming a subject expert in health data privacy. After a period of training, the primary responsibilities of the role will be to guide and supervise team members who process and analyze large health-related datasets, as well as advise internal and external stakeholders in data privacy.
You Will:
- Develop advanced expertise in healthcare data privacy from a quantitative, qualitative, regulatory and technological perspective.
- Guide and supervise in the use of programmatic tools to analyze data and explore hypotheses.
- Where required, contribute to engineering workflows and product development that automate repeatable components of an analysis.
- Assimilate and incorporate advancing team knowledge in existing and new areas of health data privacy.
What You Will Bring to the Table:
- A PhD in a science closely related to human health and/or data science with a developed knowledge of the other.
- Demonstrable track record of successfully holding positions of responsibility and leadership in professional or academic settings. This may include membership of professional or academic groups, panels or committees.
- Experience of providing expert advice/consultancy, developing protocols, and/or setting standards to support practitioners maintaining high quality and effectiveness in their discipline.
- Deep understanding and experience of real-world health systems, their data and the practicalities of its utilization.
- Solid data science skills with a familiarity of all and expertise of at least one of Python, R and SQL, with experience of analysis of ‘big data’ and familiarity with version control applications.
- Deep understanding of statistical probability, bias, error and power as well as sampling and resampling theory.
- Developed skills in the application of scientific methods to practical problems through experimental design, exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to reach robust conclusions.
- Strong project management skills involving effective collaboration and liaison with disparate stakeholders, as in, e.g., the achievement of research goals
- Expert communicator in both written and spoken English showing a consistently impeccable standard of presentation and accessibility.
- Exceptional initiative and ability to independently problem solve, seek help when needed, and take ownership when navigating ambiguity.
- Mature appreciation of commercial working practices with a proactive approach to interaction with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
Nice to have:
- Experience with cloud services for storage and computing.
- A track record of securing funding through grant applications.
