About CURE International Children's Hospitals
We are a Christian nonprofit organization with a global network of eight children's hospitals dedicated to providing life-changing surgical care and proclaiming the kingdom of God. Our journey began in 1996, founded by Dr. Scott Harrison and his wife, Sally, after they witnessed the immense need for specialized medical care for children with disabilities during a trip to Malawi. This experience ignited a mission to heal the sick and serve those in underserved countries. Our first hospital opened its doors in Kijabe, Kenya, in 1998, and since then, we have expanded our reach across Africa and the Philippines, establishing hospitals in Ethiopia, Malawi, Niger, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. We believe that every child deserves the chance to live a full life, free from the limitations of a treatable disability. Our dedicated teams of surgeons, nurses, and healthcare professionals work tirelessly to perform intricate orthopedic, neurosurgical, and reconstructive plastic surgeries for children suffering from conditions like clubfoot, bowed legs, cleft lip and palate, and hydrocephalus.
Our approach to healing extends beyond the operating room. We are committed to providing holistic care that addresses the emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. In each of our hospitals, we create a compassionate, gospel-centered environment where children and their loved ones can experience the love of God. We minister to them through prayer, counseling, and sharing the message of hope found in the Bible. Furthermore, we are deeply invested in strengthening the healthcare systems of the countries we serve. We achieve this by training local medical professionals, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to provide high-quality surgical care for generations to come. By building these intentional relationships and partnerships, we aim to create a lasting impact that multiplies our efforts. Our work is made possible through the generosity of our donors and partners who share our vision of a world where every child with a treatable disability has the opportunity to heal and thrive.
